Subject: A classic
Jerdon was one of those typical Victorian physicians with an interest in birds. Influenced by Swainson's quinarian classification and a keen member of the scholarly societies but working from India, collecting the local names for birds and documenting them. His work is a classic that every ornithologist in India has to review.
